This model as created by Jon Kabat-Zinn and it is helpful to treat different medical conditions, chronic depression, anxiety and stress. It helps individuals not to stay "hooked"into distressing thoughts but to to be mindful of them and "let go". It is also effective when individuals have affective dysregulation (lack of control of their impulses and emotions). Therefore mindfulness therapy will be helpful for couples, family, friendship and work relationships. Mindfulness techniques have been found to reduce self-criticism and chronic rumination which in turn lead to clinical depression. Research shows that this model helps to prevent or at least reduce the relapse of depression
